Create a coworker

Create a coworker from a template in the console. Every setting can be changed later on the coworker’s page.

  • A GitHub repo for its notes. The coworker keeps its memory in agents/<name>/ in a repo you name, on a branch (main by default). You need a GitHub connection in Droneship that can write to it: run droneship connect if you haven’t.
  • An Anthropic API key saved in the console. Its tasks use the creator’s key from Settings → Model keys. See Harnesses and models.
  • Connectors set up in the project, for the tools the job needs, such as GitHub, Notion, Linear or HubSpot. See Connectors.
  • Someone who can create a Slack app, if people will mention it in Slack. Creating an app may need a Slack admin.
  1. Pick a template. In the console, open Coworkers under Agents and click New coworker. Each template writes a first job description and suggests connectors:

    • Marketing drafts launch posts and campaign copy, and tracks what shipped. It suggests a weekly marketing report on Mondays at 9:00.
    • Sales prepares account briefs and follow-ups from the team’s notes. It suggests a pipeline digest on weekdays at 8:00.
    • Analytics answers questions about the team’s data and explains how. It suggests a daily KPI digest at 7:00.
    • Custom is a blank coworker: you write its job description yourself.
  2. Name it. People @mention it in Slack by this name, for example @leo-marketing.

  3. Check the job description. The template’s is ready to use, so it starts folded: click Edit to change what it owns, how to do the work, and what it must never do. It reads this before every task. For Custom, it starts open for you to write.

  4. Pick its tools. The tools the template usually needs are listed and checked. Click more in this project to add any other connector set up in the project. You can limit each one to specific tools after you create it.

  5. Set a schedule, or turn it off. Choose how often (every day, weekdays, every week on a day, or every month on a date), pick a time, and say what to do. You can add more schedules later.

  6. Check Advanced, if you need to. It holds the model and the GitHub repo for its notes. The repo is filled in from the project’s other coworkers, so Advanced stays folded. For the project’s first coworker it opens: enter the repo as owner/repo. For the model, choose Opus 5.5 for the best judgment, Sonnet 5.5 for most jobs, or Haiku 5.5 for short, cheap tasks.

  7. Click Create coworker. Next, connect its Slack app.

Each coworker has a page with these tabs:

Tab What it’s for
Overview What it’s doing now, what starts it, what it can reach, and Run now
Job description Edit its instructions, and review the changes it proposes
Notes What it has done, what’s next, and what it has learned
Schedules Add, edit, pause and resume its schedules
Slack Connect its Slack app and choose where it listens
